This project requires UI design. Therefore I gathered some information and here are few interesting points from the findings.
I been using design thinking tool from while ago, so I am used to applying user research on the design. But, what is UI and UX ? and why Orion health requires UI design? Here is a cleaver answer I found from user experience blog.
Firstly the definition of two things are,
UX design = user experience design / UI deisgn = user interface design
There is USER,
and UI is constricting and assembling the bike.
Then feeling happiness when they are riding the bike is UX.
Designer designed a pathway but user knows faster way to go.
This picture helps understanding what is the difference between UI and UX clearly.
According to the research I can say that,
“Going Auckland to Wellington by using google map is UI design and Going Auckland to Wellington through a longer way with remembering last time memory is UX design”
The information and images are from those blogs:
I continued researching about UI design because I did not clearly understand what UI design is… I thought designing something is to improve our life, so to design something we need an uncomfortable(insight) point. So UX is needed to get UI inspiration?
Here is another summary of UI design research to question that.
UI :design responsible for the visual, creative and inspirational part
(mobile UI design from: https://webdesignersdream.wordpress.com/category/ui-design/page/2/)
“Better show the thing by clicking one or two times”
this is a quote from Orion meeting when Mike was presenting what UI design is. This was inspiring sentence to me because it change my attitude to concentrate more on visual things. Now I got curios difference between UI design and Graphic design, therefore I looked up the definition of each things and I now can got clear idea of UI design.
There are many definitions about UI design but here are 3 which are my favorites.
User Interface Design is the design of websites, computers, appliances, machines, mobile communication devices, and software applications with the focus on the user’s experience and interaction. The goal of user interface design is to make the user’s interaction as simple and efficient as possible, in terms of accomplishing user goals—what is often called user-centered design. – Wikipedia
User interface design is prettying the pixels up. It’s a component of user experience design. It’s no less important than any other part of the process, and a huge part of what constitutes a great user experience. Many people think this part of design is really the whole shebang, but they’re wrong. It makes the experience aesthetically pleasing, but good UI design on poor UX design is still poor design.
User Interface Design is the multi-disciplinary practice of crafting usable human-device interfaces. Taking into account, among many things: user and organizational tasks, needs, and goals; ease and simplicity of use; clarity and beauty of execution; flexibility and scalability of the design across multiple devices.
